OK, then at this point, please try with snd_usb_audio.keep_iface=1 option. This should break the sound again. I'd like to be sure that the problem is persistent. If it's confirmed, it implies that the approach won't work reliably, again depending on the BIOS version (which we can't see), unfortunately...
