Seriously? In what way would that be unclear? "Backward" as in "towards smaller
numbers" and "forward" as in "towards higher numbers" - the common definition
of both terms? It doesn't even matter if the numbers are block numbers (as
typically used by Linux paritioning tools) or Kilobytes / Megabytes /
Terabytes.
