interesting . . . it seems that clicking on the x to close the "make chromium default" popup instead of actually clicking on the "make default" button stops the popup appearing on future launches of Chromium. Problem solved for me now but I'd still suggest that something is wrong. Surely clicking the "make default" button on the popup should actually set the browser as default and prevent future popups?
