Comment # 3 on bug 939794 from Duncan Mac-Vicar

I uncommented WaylandEnable=false in /etc/gdm/custom.conf and all my problems
went away.

So I guess this can be easily reproduced in any Thinkpad with a dock station
and external monitors. Enable Wayland for GDM, undock, dock. External monitors
will not get the picture back.
