This means that you cannot get a text console either. Since you can access the system from remote, can you set the 'nomodeset' boot option boot, log in remotey and simply run: 'modprobe i915 modeset=1'? Does this give you a black screen as well? I have to add, I've got several machines with the same Baytrail GPU here and haven't seen this issue on any of them.
