I had to go to my Univ. office today, and decided to try an online update
there. The OS is essentially the same as at home, but maybe... No luck. The
messages from the effort (truncated) were:

Have a lot of fun...

[NOTE]
You may have encountered a bug in the Ruby interpreter or extension libraries.
Bug reports are welcome.
For details: http://www.ruby-lang.org/bugreport.html

/sbin/yast2: line 455: 3432 Aborted (core dumped)
$ybindir/y2start $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS

I also saved the /var/log/YaST2/y2log file, which I am attaching.

I do not use ruby and would delete the files. However, ruby seems to be
creeping into system-level and application codes, so I am reluctant to do so.

Note:
I will be out of the country for 2 weeks starting Sep. 15, and will not have
access to emails or computers. I am planning to install SuSE v15.1 after I
return, and hope that resolves the problems.

Thank you,
Joe C.
