https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=249802 Summary: setup fails to recommend video card Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: sgt-d@sodpit.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com suse: 10.3 alpha 1 64 bit vid card: evga nvidia 7900 gt asus: a8n-sli deluxe during setup, graphics work fine... on the final step it tries to detect hardware. "no proposal". at this point if i try to manually set the card it tells me to click the link. if i click the link it tells me to click the link. setup fails to come up with a recommendation for my video card and it is 100% unresolvable manually. i am guessing that because of the setup failure that the resulting xorg.conf is not created at all, or corrupted , so my first boot up results in no graphical system at all - startx fails to run due to missing info in xorg.conf. my solution (workaround) was to rename xorg.conf to xorg.original, then rename xorg.install to xorg.conf. startx runs fine at this point. i was then able to logout of x and install nvidia drivers normally. this was confirmed on at least three separate "clean" installations. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
