OpenSUSE now uses the bgrt theme for Plymouth, which displays a vendor logo. However, if the bgrt data is not available (because you are using legacy BIOS boot, or the firmware doesn't provide it for some reason), all you get is a black screen with a spinner at the bottom. There doesn't seem to be any equivalent to the old Plymouth theme. Instead, it should fall back to an openSUSE logo when bgrt is unavailable.
