"xrandr --auto" was meant as workaround to possibly enable the outputs of second card again - at all. Looks like this did work at least. Fixing the layout again via xrandr is then a trivial step as you figured out already. I think it's a regression in the Xserver 21.x. Could be fixed if we can address boo#1192751, reported also to gitlab as https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1254
