If you run the gnome-disk-utility to write an iso to a device, say an operating system iso to a device through it's image writer functionality the entire system in openSUSE 15.0 KDE freezes until after the job is finished. The system freezes almost completely, the only way to see what the apps are doing is to hover your mouse to the left corner of the screen (the present windows area) in KDE to see what is happening. The apps that are open remain responsive, for example Firefox, the rest of the buttons on the desktop or panels and everything else is frozen.
