When trying to run `startx', using the same X server as the system display mananger does, taking it from `ps' output, it fills the screen with garbage, mostly white. Does not respond sensibly to user input, key presses. So have to cycle power of the machine. Yet to figure (or be told) what information to add here, what to look up on my system.
