https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750476 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750476#c0 Summary: second stage: ask for update run before downloading metadata Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: ohering@suse.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: Outsourced Testing Blocker: --- In the second stage of a fresh install the steps for update are currently like this: check network connection download release-notes download repository metadata ask to run or skip online update Downloading the repository metadate will delay a fresh install for a long time on a slow internet connection. Even if a proxy is configured in second stage, the proxy will not really help because download.opensuse.org redirects to many mirrors which invalidates most requests from previous installations. Therefore I request to change the flow to first ask wether the online update should run. If Skip is selected, just write the .repo files in /etc/zypper/repos.d and continue with installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
