It would be helpful if you could describe what is bad about this patch and what
your concerns are, as that would be useful for me to make a decision about what
to do here. Reading the ITS and your gitlab issue, it appears you may have a
better patch than provided here, so if you are concerned about this code, it
would be great if you could help us by supplying an improved version of the
patch, especially with your insight into openldap.
