There is a possibility that your "permissions" package is out of date. With KDE, it was automatically updated, but perhaps not on MATE systems. Using YaST, force a reload of that package. Perhaps that will help. If it does not, I may be able to access your machine using teamviewer late next week. My wife is having surgery on Tuesday, which ties me up early in the week. Larry
