There are a good number of backports that break armv7 support in the 42.3 kernel. Given that the majority of openSUSE users are probably still on armv7, it would be a shame not to have a kernel for them. We should make sure that the kernel compiles for armv7. I can try to fix up the broken backports, but I'd like to ensure that we keep it working in the future, so we also need to add armv7 to the check in build checks.
