Hmm, back when I used Fedora I didn't see that behavior. Maybe they don't make
as extensive use of Patterns (or the Fedora equivalent) so the issue is marked
to some degree.

It's possible that the very concept of Patterns itself is flawed if it offers
no way around this issue without introducing other issues.

But I won't pretend to have special insight into how this ought to be fixed,
and there's no urgency from me since I've since switched to an Ubuntu-based
distro where this issue isn't present.
