Right, though why plymouth seems to have a problem is easy: it's crashing. I've got two core dumps I can share (Tumbleweed) and I posted an analysis on the null-pointer dereference to the bug report linked to this one. The thing is: the crash happens when I use "single", so I am not sure if it is the same cause.
