Comment # 36 on bug 1227420 from Jarkko Torvinen
Hi again,

Aeon 20241106 installer is fixed and was able to try.

Attaching aeon-gnome-initial-setup-keymap-dialog.png which shows the important
part of setup process

Aeon with Finnish(official)/fi-kotoistus:
- gdm keymap works
- gnome keymap works
- console keymap works

resulting /etc/vconsole.conf:
# Written by systemd-localed(8) or systemd-firstboot(1), read by
systemd-localed
# and systemd-vconsole-setup(8). Use localectl(1) to update this file.
FONT=eurlatgr.psfu
KEYMAP=fi-kotoistus
XKBLAYOUT=fi
XKBVARIANT=kotoistus

Aeon with Finnish/fi:
- gdm keymap works
- gnome keymap works
- console keymap is wrong, us?
- systemd-vconsole-setup.service fails

resulting /etc/vconsole.conf:
# Written by systemd-localed(8) or systemd-firstboot(1), read by
systemd-localed
# and systemd-vconsole-setup(8). Use localectl(1) to update this file.
FONT=eurlatgr.psfu
KEYMAP=fi
XKBLAYOUT=fi

So this is bad if you need to input recovery key for disk encryptio that uses
"-" which is different key between us and fi layouts.

Tried to install kbd-legacy:
sudo transactional-update pkg install kbd-legacy
sudo transactional-update initrd
Now systemd-vconsole-setup succeeds, but keymap is still us

The problem is that "Finnish" option is still there in gnome, also in TW
keyboard settings (does not break things as only affects gnome). And that its
the first option in gnome initial setup, its the obvious choice, as we have
always been using simply "Finnish" or "fi". These kotoistus, official, classic,
whatever, is not what I would pick, I have no idea what the reason for others
is there to exist. There is generally only single "Finnish" layout.
