This sounds like no issue when using autologin for the user. You can easily verify that by changing /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf accordingly. But this sounds very strange to me. More likely it is some process autostarting in your session running crazy. I bet freshly created users are not affected, no matter if you use autologin or manual login for them.
