We already concluded that your issue is different from mine. I did try the
intel_idle.max_cstate=4 kernel parameter, but, as expected, with no success.

I accidentally found that updating/replacing the BIOS, did solve my problem
also,  apart from the "git revert 49218c83e25b6f0708f246b07d570b2c43a98223"
solution.

Since i do not have any problems anymore and, as we later found out, having an
other problem anyway, i will leave.

It was funny. The comments in this post set me thinking that the problem i/we
had, could be caused by a recent kernel change. This appeared to be true. But
even all the symptoms were the same, the cause was something else. Bugs appear
to walk in strange ways.
