IMHO a) only /boot should be checked. Only /boot matters for bootloader installation, it does not matter what devices other filesystems use. So in this case the fact that /boot is on RAID1 is enough to enable bootloader redundancy. b) it should also support other RAID types - now when only grub2 is offered anyway there is no reason to check for RAID1. grub2 supports any Linux MD RAID type.
