Ok, I'm attaching a script to disable the CPU watchdog - I want to
make sure I'm seeing what I *think* I'm seeing.

You'd need msr-tools installed for it:

https://software.opensuse.org/package/msr-tools

Please boot without any parameters on the kernel command line - i.e.,
so that the box can do MWAIT - do "modprobe msr" as root then run the
attached script as root and paste the output here.

After that, run your workload and note what you're seeing. If I'm
correct, the machine should hang instead of rebooting. Just to make
sure, please run this a couple of times and note the outcome each time.
