As mentioned, the patch basically just removes all transparency (i.e. the alpha channel), making the "transparent" images appear. It doesn't modify the actual image data. For the record, I found a way to reproduce this on my real hardware running 13.2: just add "nomodeset" to the boot options. So this is definitely not specific to Leap, but more to the graphics driver as suspected. Might be a bug in Qt5...
