Sorry some more information: I updated 4 weeks ago opensuse 15.5 to opensuse
15.6 with activated repo OBS:server:monitoring:zabbix. Just now I checked some
zabbix pages and noted that all ICMP Pings failed since that time.

Within /etc/permissions the configuration for fping is set to:
permissions.easy:# fping (bsc#1047921)
permissions.easy:/usr/sbin/fping  root:root  0755

I had a local file (permission.local) modifying it as:
permissions.local:/usr/sbin/fping  root:root  4755

THis file I have now reapplied such that it is working.
