I should've mentioned that I've tried various ways of starting any of the mentioned system files (cvs.socket, cvs@.service). Though, cvs.target I didn't try as I assumes it changes the systems target. Anyways... The issue why it didn't work wasn't related to any of that. I've updated 10 Raspberry PI servers from 15.5 to 15.6 and a x86_64 laptop as well as this server, and *all* (but of the laptop) failed during "zypper dup" and did a reset during installation of the RPMs, leaving a pretty messed-up environment. I could continue with each update. But lots of files (mostly libs) where of length zero or had other issues. I ran a "rpm -Va" took all those files with 5 and "missing" in the output, identified the RPM package, sorted those and forced a re-install. Also did a "zypper verify". Now I "hope" that most of the files are back to a sane state. And so is now the CVS service (or rather the socket). But, some default settings (sftp in scp/sshd) have changed and made a mess. Still cleaning up. Anymore, you can close this bug.
