I think further testing is needed. Removing steamruntime-fix was beneficial for my machine with an NVidia card running the proprietary driver, but for the machine with an Intel iGPU steam fails to start after removing the fix call and resetting the steam runtime. I am able to enter my log in credentials, but steam crashes before displaying the main window.
