Looking at the upstream bug (https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14490)
and patch, this should only affect logging. I.e. there shouldn't be any effect
on transfers.

Could you please elaborate on your "This occasionally interrupts the data
exchange." comment - are you experiencing data transfer problems?
