More information on origin of this problem.

I was on holiday from 13-27 June. The only system updates my laptop received
were those installed by PackageKit. Before the holiday the printer worked,
after it did not. I therefore reckoned that one of the updates had caused the
problem. After this I successfully installed an HP PSC 1250 on my laptop and
successfully installed the Epson SX215 on another laptop also running openSUSE
Leap 42.2 - although that laptop is a different hardware specification.
