To begin with I'd like to clarify this question first: Which one makes more
sense: grub requires shim or shim requires grub ?

For one I still think it makes more sense for shim to require grub as it
explicitly hardcoded grub.efi execution in its source and therefore could be
treated as addons to grub's boot stack to achieve the Microsoft Windows logo
enablement for grub.

If grub has to call or use shim stuff then the dependency would go reversed, or
we may bump into loop dependency. If my memory serves well Raymund used to
share his mind about the dependency has to go "grub requires shim" but I
couldn't recall the details. Raymund would you please comment if you have
anything to add here? :)
