This issues relates to the action termed "sleep" in KDE menus.

Issue persists with 3.12.57-44 kernel.

/proc/sys/kernel/panic is 0 (not changed by me)

Tried "echo 8 >/proc/sys/kernel/printk"
and switched to a console, logging in as root.

Tried "echo mem >/sys/power/state"

This produced approximately 5 lines of suspend logging (freeze tasks, etc).

Machine suspended.

Pressing a key will produce a display screen. However it is not responsive to
new key pressed. Machine operation restored using power key to force reboot.
