For openSUSE Tumbleweed, Plymouth has updated with upstream, and this problem has not available in the latest release. For openSUSE Leap, I have fixed it in SLE, and Leap will inherit this fix. Request#132782 has been accepted, which will help to avoid screen crashing. https://build.suse.de/request/show/132782 Request#135663 also has been accepted: https://build.suse.de/request/show/135663 And the too old release of openSUSE-Leap is out of maintenance.
