You reported a coredump, unfortunately without much details so far.

You're right that it loggs an error on missing thermal, but that is harmless (I
have it here as well on a ryzen cpu). it certainly is not the trigger of an
abort as far as I can say. 

could you please systemctl stop irqbalance and then run "irqbalance -d
--foreground" as root and print the output?

also if you can capture the core file, would you mind running "gdb
/usr/sbin/irqbalance <corefilepath>" and then type "bt" and paste the result?
