I think "'trampoline' into a *local* users session and use the *locally
available* credentials" is also what /usr/bin/get_printing_ticket does.

Basically all what I know about samba-krb-printing and
/usr/bin/get_printing_ticket is described in bug#661845

I don't know the reason why samba-krb-printing was dropped.
