Thank you, Larry Finger, for kindly taking some more time to write some more text here in this thread of postings. Following your instructions I clicked on the hyperlink reading fixes_for_leap15.3.patch on the Web page https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE%3AFactory/virtualbox and subsequently saw 16 lines of what appeared to be code in the C computer programming language on July 7, 2021. I found the VirtualBox version 6.1.18 among those lines on July 7, 2021, but surprisingly not VirtualBox 6.1.20 among those lines. Does this mean that VirtualBox 6.1.20 was on July 7, 2021 not yet supported with the necessary backporting of Linux kernel source code in any version of the Linux kernel released from an openSUSE, online repository, despite the fact that the software packages virtualbox-guest-x11 and virtualbox-guest-tools labeled with the number 6.1.20 and very recently 6.1.22 have been available from openSUSE, Leap-15.3 online repositories? I suppose that there might be a system, which I dont understand or know with certainty, among the red-, green-, black-, and maybe purple- or violet-colored statements there. Due to the appearance of orig and src in the red-colored line reading --- VirtualBox-6.1.18.orig/src/Vbox/Runtime/r0drv/linux/the-linux-kernel.h, I suppose that that line would mean that you obtained that file named the-linux-kernel.h from Oracle Corporation for its VirtualBox 6.1.18. Then in the next, green-colored line reading, +++ VirtualBox-6.1.18/src/Vbox/Runtime/r0drv/linux/the-linux-kernel.h, I assume that the the-linux-kernel.h in that line would include some of your work of modifying the source-code in the C-language header file the-linux-kernel.h. And since the file containing such statements is named fixes_for_leap15.3.patch and within it is titled File fixes_for_leap15.3.patch of Package virtualbox , I assume that the rest of the code in that file is your work. I would like something simple for me to do, but for option a perhaps difficult for you to do. That is please provide a a) Linux command I can issue, with a particular kernel version released from an openSUSE online repository as its argument, that will yield the result of the version of VirtualBox supported by that Linux kernel for executions of the file VBoxLinuxAdditions.run obtained from Oracle Corporation, or else b) a method from you by which I could look within fixes_for_leap15.3.patch to see what version of VirtualBox and what version of the Linux kernel released from an openSUSE repository would be supported for executions of the file VBoxLinuxAdditions.run obtained from Oracle Corporation, or else c) some other method by which I could learn what version of VirtualBox and what version of the Linux kernel released from an openSUSE, online repository would be supported for executions of the file VBoxLinuxAdditions.run obtained from Oracle Corporation. Since you are the person now doing the work of backporting code for openSUSE Leap suitable for VirtualBox computer software, I assume that you could answer the versions of VirtualBox and the Linux kernel from openSUSE that your work would support. So this is a matter of how I could learn the detailed applicability of your work without my testing an openSUSE kernel version with a version of VirtualBox from Oracle Corporation by executing a file VBoxLinuxAdditions.run obtained from Oracle Corporation.
