Do you mean that applying that commit on top of 4.4.x SUSE kernel causes a kernel panic? If so, the patch wasn't applied cleanly. The only change relevant to ValleyView is the rename of vlv_power_sequencer_reset() to intel_power_sequencer_reset(). Other changes are only for Broxton.
