Another experience that justifies this request to get rid of PackageKit:

I tried installing a downloaded RPM file with the openSUSE Gnome default
"Package Install" utility. After double-clicking, nothing happened for *several
minutes*. No window, no progress bar, no notification, no nothing. I'm not sure
if it was trying to update the software index files or what, but there is no
excuse for a program to give no visual confirmation of what it is doing for
many minutes.

Then, when it finally made progress, it gave me an utterly unhelpful error
dialog: "Failed to install file - A package could not be found that allows the
action to complete. More information is available in the detailed report." What
report? No link, no hints where to look, is the report coming later in the next
dialog window? Will it also appear after 2 minutes? Is it a log file I have to
manually dig up?

Everything about PackageKit is seriously awful. Please consider removing it
completely from openSUSE by default.

Thanks.
