This no longer appears to happen.
I'm running openSUSE LEAP 15.0, which means (at this moment), kernel
4.12.14-lp150.11-default

The closest thing I've got is this:

For what it's worth, LEAP 15.0 is *amazing* -- easily the best upgrade (and
I've been a SUSE/SuSE user since 9.1) and the overall quality is, IMO, the best
in the industry.
