Interesting question.  I will have to repeat the upgrade attempt to test that.

Here's what I'm tentatively thinking I will do:

(1) delete the VM from my prior upgrade attempt (to reclaim disk space)
(2) clone the same 42.3 VM as before
(3) upgrade as before
(4) if I see it freeze, I'll pause the VM, and then close virt-manager
(5) restart virt-manager, run that VM, unpause, and see whether the display is
still frozen

Does that sound like an appropriate way of testing?
