Since you mentioned Leap15.5, I'm installing a VM with that OS right now, and
it seems to be working fine. And, yes, I'm using VirtIO and QCOW2 images for
disks.

Can you share the XML of one of the failing VMs (`virsh dumpxml <domainname>`)?
