On a new user's home, I notice the existence of the file .i18n (wonderful!):

cer-k@minas-tirith:~> cat .i18n
#
# Override system wide input method here
#

# export INPUT_METHOD=scimcer-k@minas-tirith:~>

(notice the missin EOL, by the way)

But there is something wrong, because the .profile file still contains this
paragraph:

+++
# Most applications support several languages for their output.
# To make use of this feature, simply uncomment one of the lines below or
# add your own one (see /usr/share/locale/locale.alias for more codes)
# This overwrites the system default set in /etc/sysconfig/language
# in the variable RC_LANG.
#
#export LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 # uncomment this line for German output
#export LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 # uncomment this line for French output
#export LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 # uncomment this line for Spanish output
++-

IMO that paragraph should go instead to the .i18n file, because its purpose is
precisely internationalization configuration, ie, the language configuration.

While the .i18n did not exist by default or was not known or was not working, I
agree the settings should go to .profile. But now that the default home
directory contains an skeleton .i18n file, those settings should migrate there.

Thanks.
