I had two times the Problem that the Postfix configuration was reset to the default configuration. The MUA delivers the mail without any error. Because I got no response on my mails I inspected the mail logs and could restore the postfix configuration form my backup. This not acceptable in any way. Digging through the scripts /usr/share/YaST2/include/network/runtime.rb and /usr/sbin/config.postfix I could locate the the old configuration files in /var/adm/backup/postfix/. This is OK. The problem is that no one expects that the mail configuration is changed when the network configuration changed. The main question is: Why is it necessary to change/restore the mail configuration? I think this is necessary only under certain conditions. If there is an update to me there is only one solution: The administrator shall be informed about the changes in the mail configuration ( Popup in Yast ). A note in the log is not sufficient. I would prefer to create new configuration files named xxx.new in /etc/postfix. Then the administrator can insert the new configuration. I am pretty shure in most cases the old configuration will work.
