Thank you for the hard work! In the meantime I was able to integrate the latest
code from you into the mainstream of rear - see:

So, if you could be so kind to use our fork for further testing (I think your
code wasn't changed too much). Needed only some special treatment for the root
subvolume on Fedora (as the lines:
btrfsdefaultsubvol /dev/vda3 / 5
# Btrfs normal subvolumes for /dev/vda3 at /
# Format: btrfsnormalsubvol <device> <mountpoint> <btrfs_subvolume_ID>
<btrfs_subvolume_path>
btrfsnormalsubvol /dev/vda3 / 257 root
# All mounted btrfs subvolumes (including mounted btrfs default subvolumes and
mounted btrfs snapshot subvolumes).
# Using the findmnt command that shows the mounted btrfs_subvolume_path.
# Format: btrfsmountedsubvolume <device> <subvolume_mountpoint> <mount_options>

did not went though the umount/mount for root. For the rest I'm quite happy.
