On my openSUSE 13.1 box, rsync keeps on putting into the log:
2015/03/17 13:30:54 [24446] Service registration expired, refreshing it
2015/03/17 13:30:54 [24446] rsyncd registering 2 services with slpd for -29536
seconds:
2015/03/17 13:30:54 [24446]
service:rsync://messiah.leuenberger.net:873/VideoLAN
2015/03/17 13:30:54 [24446] Error registering service with slp -20
2015/03/17 13:30:54 [24446]
service:rsync://messiah.leuenberger.net:873/GStreamer
2015/03/17 13:30:54 [24446] Error registering service with slp -20
Needless to say: I don't have an SLP Server on the network... the 'default'
config parameter
> use slp = false
results in another log entry:
2015/03/17 13:33:19 [27497] rsyncd version 3.1.0 starting, listening on port
873
2015/03/17 13:33:19 [27497] Unknown Parameter encountered: "use slp"
2015/03/17 13:33:19 [27497] IGNORING unknown parameter "use slp"
Seems there is no way other than rebuilding without SLP to actually not use SLP
# rpm -q rsync
rsync-3.1.0-21.12.1.x86_64
