It supports, but I wouldn't say it confirms much

After all, what versions of what packages are being really tested there?

Is Ubuntu GNOME using identical binaries to openSUSE GNOME? If no, then those
changes could be part of the factor

Does Ubuntu GNOME have additional patches, or less patches than oepnSUSE GNOME?
Those differences could be part of this story

And the same for all of the libraries and even the kernel in use..

your testing helps, but without a full analysis of the differences at play, it
doesn't help us a great deal.
