When installing new kernel "obsoletes" removes the running kernel rather then an older version. I have the following set in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf: multiversion = provides:multiversion(kernel) multiversion.kernels = latest,latest-1,running Even with this set the "oldest" kernel is kept but not the ones I have specified.
