I don't get "Reply to thread" notices.  But I see something similar from RSS
feeds.

If my browser is not logged into the forums (has never logged into the forums)
then all is okay.  If I have just logged into the forums in that browser, then
all is okay.

If I logged into the forums some time ago and my login is near expiring, then I
see this problem.  When I see it, I go to the main forum page in another tab,
and I login there if it does not show me as already logged in.  I can then
retry the failed page (with the retry button on that page) and it now works.
