Just for completeness: earlier this morning I "lost" the eth connection while
running on 5.10.7

The laptop is currently connected to the docking station, the eth connection is
provided by the docking station.

I'm still running on the system, I just disabled via networkmanager the eth
connection and I'm relying on the wifi.
