Since rpm 4.3.3 (cf. CHANGES file), %defattr defaults to root,root. Packages should not have to specify "%defattr(-, root, root)" in their %files list, but dropping it results in the following rpmlint warning $package.src:$line-num: W: files-attr-not-set I would think all supported distros have rpm >= 4.3.3, and if so this warning should be squelched.
