The sudden freezes in the screen is frequent enough that I can predict how much
time I have to properly switch to tty and reboot the machine before it stops
responding altogether.

I don't even need to launch video. Sometimes the desktop will stall and crash
at the login screen. It took a few restarts before I could even properly write
this comment.

These are the errors I have copied out by hand that show up in tty1.
