You mean the "Places" panel on the left side of dolphin?
Or the desktop's folderview?
Or what exactly?

Maybe attach a screenshot to clarify.

A backtrace would be nice.
Normally drkonqi (KDE's crash dialog) should show up.
If it doesn't, you could run dolphin in gdb, reproduce the crash, and type "bt"
afterwards to get the backtrace.

If it's really about *copying* files, it might be related to
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356321 and a lot of similar upstream
bugreports.
Do you get any error dialog before the crash happens?
